Fred van Veluw Single Image Winner metaphor/abstract

Photography for me is a way to express my feelings and emotions. All of my work is concentrated around the themes of threat, fear and dismay. I create visual fiction with strong emotions. Through suggestive staging I present a tableaux of uncertainty that could become reality. I construct situations and express emotions I want viewers to experience. I challenge them to associate from their own backgrounds, from their own experiences, with photographs that are often out of focus and/or contain a serious amount of grain. My objective is to create images that are more inspirational than beautiful.
